Hi, I’m Kristin. Glad you’re here!

The first time I remember tasting baklava, I was 8 years old at a Greek Festival in Rochester, NY with my family. It was drenched in honey and topped with slivered almonds and pretty much the most exotic, delicious treat I had ever tasted.

20 years later I got the opportunity to study in Jerusalem. The baklava I experienced there was a different thing entirely: topped with green, crumbled pistachios with delicate layers of fillo and without any honey at all! It quickly became a weekly treat on the way home from school where the granny behind the counter would see me coming and prepare my piece saying, “here you go, binti”. She told me binti means “my daughter” and that love is the secret ingredient to a good baklava.

When I arrived home from my travels, missing my weekly treat, I realized I would have to recreate the perfect baklava with my own hands to satisfy my cravings. Years of playing with variations of recipes and the most delicious flavor combinations brought me to my own perfect baklava with either walnut, pistachio, or hazelnut (and always love). And now I’m excited to share it, and other delicious treats, with you!
